Beth Braun has been performing professionally and teaching since 1982 in Tucson, throughout Arizona, in New York, California, and internationally. Originally from New York, Beth received her MA Degree in Dance from State University of New York at Brockport and has studied at the Alvin Ailey Contemporary Dance Center. Beth has worked with just about every modern company in Tucson, starting back with Territory Dance Theatre, and while in NY she worked with Randy James Danceworks for their first season. She has taught every age student from 13 month old babies to 60 year old differently abled adults. Currently Beth directs the dance program at Rincon/University High School. Beside her work with ZUZI!, Beth created and produced her own work with musician/composer/husband, Arthur Miscione. This is Beth's 7th season with ZUZI where she teaches, choreographs, and performs. Beth was the 2005 recipient of the Buffalo Exchange Arts Award.

Alison Hart is a graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in dance education.  In addition to studying a diverse background of dance technique, specializing in modern, ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics, Alison has also taught a variety of classes for students of all ages.  As the artistic director for the City of Phoenix Dance Program for five years, Alison organized the program, produced many performances and taught dance classes for children ages 3 – 13.  She is currently a full time dance teacher at Utterback Middle School.  Alison loves the physicality and artistry of all dance styles and looks forward, every day, to sharing this passion with her students.

Nanette Robinson, Co-founder and Artistic Director of ZUZI!, holds a BFA in Dance from Temple University and is a certified instructor of Skinner Releasing. She has extensive experience as an aerial dancer having worked with Robert Davidson and Terry Sengraff. In addition to the ZUZI Arts Lab, she is an adjunct faculty member at Pima Community College. Nanette's professional goal as a dance educator is to inspire freedom, joy and meaning in movement and demonstrate how it can find its way into our daily lives. She is committed to helping students deepen their awareness and connection to the world and themselves through their own creative and technical dance experience and expression. She is also deeply involved in the choreographic process and in developing professional and community dance pieces.

Nicole Sanchez a BFA graduate of SUNY Brockport, has been an active Tucson dancer, choreographer and teacher for ten years and joins ZUZI'S teaching staff this season to share her love of flying.

Maria Sara Villa is a mom, wife, birth doula and a certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner. She combines her love of dance and work supporting the pregnant family to help people move with more ease and grace.

Melissa Buckheit is a poet, dancer/choreographer and photographer. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Blue Fifth Review, Bombay Gin, Laurel Moon, The Drunken Boat and Sonora Review, among others. She holds an M.F.A. in Poetry from Naropa University and a B.A. in English & American Literature/Creative Writing and Dance/Theatre from Brandeis University. She has taught Creative Writing and Modern Dance at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and currently teaches Literature, Writing and Creative Writing at Pima Community College and in private workshop. She has studied Modern Dance, Ballet/Pointe, Aerial Trapeze and Mind-Body Centering


GUEST TEACHERS

Gina Gonzales is an experienced professional performer.  Among other methods she is trained in the Salimpour technique. While in San Francisco, CA, she was a member of the Suhaila Dance Company and Bal Anat Troupe. She's collaborated extensively with other Middle Eastern dance artists and world renowned musicians from Egypt, Lebanon and US. Her teaching and knowledge of body movement is enhanced by her background as a certified group fitness instructor and bodyworker.

Adair Landborn is a dance performer, choreographer, scholar and educator in both contemporary modern dance and Spanish flamenco dance genres. Adair’s professional career includes extensive national and international achievements. Adair is a certified Laban movement analyst and incorporates Bartenieff movement fundamentals and Laban theories in all of her classes. An accomplished movement improviser and movement play specialist, Adair holds advanced degrees in dance, including an MFA from the University of Arizona and an interdisciplinary doctorate in the anthropology of dance and somatic studies from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Maile Nadelhoffer began dancing at age 3 in the studios of jazz legend Gus Giordano and later danced with Chicago jazzmen Joel Hall and Mike Fredrics. At 11, she began training in classical Spanish dance and Flamenco studying, in the U.S. and Spain, with La Tania, Oscar Nieto, Omayra Amaya, and Andres Marin. Maile performs at clubs and festivals throughout the Southwest and has been featured in productions with Borderlands Theater Co. and ZUZI!
