Her choreography was named video of the year and was one of the top five routines nominated for choreography of the year by Revolution Talent competition in 2019.  Most recently Crystal decided she wanted more for her artistic voice and with the help of Olivia Dean established COlab The Company. COlab offers dance training for youth ages 8-18.Crystal is trained to teach all styles and enjoys all different forms of dance. Crystal is very passionate and her favorite part of teaching is instilling the love she has for dance in those around her.

Learn a little bit more about Crystal....

ZUZI:  Tell us a little bit about the performance for this ZUZI! Winter Solstice show. What is the significance to the solstice?

Crystal:  The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year, but it is also the shortest. Reminding me as a creator and my artists as visionaries that all of our darkest days truly are short when compared to the light that surrounds us. What makes me feel creatively alive is the people around me. There will always be dark and light in our lives, but as long as we’re surrounded by the right people there will also always be love.

ZUZI:  Tell us a little bit about your group, organization or, if you are an Independent Contractor-your personal experience as a solo Artist.

Crystal:  Colab The Company is a brand new youth dance company. We pride ourselves in celebrating individuality and helping young artists find their own creative voice. COlab The Company is directed by Crystal Griffith and Co-directed by Olivia Dean. Our dancers have performed locally at The Tucson Dance Festival, and also at the 4th Avenue Street Fair. Our company is made up of the most dedicated and hard working dancers. Our students train over ten hours a week and travel all over the country to perform..

ZUZI:  What is something you have learned during the last couple of years, or during your entire dance career, that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Crystal:  The main thing that I have learned in my dance career is that it truly takes a village. You get so much more out of being successful when you have the right people around you to celebrate your success with. I have also learned that it is so much more fulfilling to train the entire person rather than just focusing on a dancer's technical elements. Every student that enters my classroom has something to offer and is there for a specific reason..

Thank you, Crystal & COLab, for bringing a new vibe and a great sense of community outreach to ZUZI! Dance and thank you for being a part of our special Solstice show!
