Born and raised in Tucson, Nicole Surran began her classical ballet training at the age of 5 at the Academy of Ballet under the direction of Linda Walker. Ms. Surran has attended intensive workshops with professional dance companies, choreography competitions, and has been invited to perform across the country. Ms. Surran performed with Condanza Contemporary Repertory Company for five years under the direction of Cesar Degollado, where she also served as Community Outreach Intern and rehearsal assistant. Ms. Surran has over a decade of experience working with dancers of all ages and all levels. In 2020, she founded her own project, 520 Dance Company, and has created new multimedia choreographic works and virtual performances despite the global pandemic. When Ms. Surran isn’t immersed in the Tucson dance community, she works in public health as a Licensed Fiduciary. She is working towards her Masters Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy with Pratt Institute (NYC) and is eager to bring that knowledge to Tucson and beyond. Nicole is thrilled to be a part of the Zuzi-sphere this season.
