Griff

Griff Goehring has taught and performed creative dance and group dance improvisation for over 50 years. She worked closely with Arizona’s own dance pioneer Barbara Mettler in 1970s & 80s as a student, company member, and teaching assistant. In the 1990s Griff pursued her interest in dance movement therapy but eventually returned to dance the art as her main focus. She set up and directed Green Mountain Creative Dance Center in Vermont in 1997. Green Mountain held classes for people of all ages and abilities. Projects included one woman shows, group performances, Dance in Schools and several summer dance companies. These included the Northeast Performance Project in 2009, Summer Company in 2010, the Bicycle Dance Troupe in 2011 and the Summer Company of 2013. Griff was an adjust dance profession at Hampshire College from 2006-2017. During this time, she also helped set up the Teacher Training Program of Mettler-based dance at the Tucson Creative Dance Center. In 2016 Griff met the art of red nose clowning. Her Clowndance classes combine the physicality and freedom of creative dance improvisation with the innocent engagement of the Clown with the real world.
