The Longest Night
WOMEN OF WINTER CELEBRATION
When shadows deepen and the veil between worlds thins, the forgotten women of winter rise. Witches, goddesses, and hags step out from the frost and fire of ancient folklore to claim their place in the dance of the solstice. Through movement, myth, and ritual, this Solstice weaves the stories of variety of winter folk tales from around the world featuring goddesses,
Shamaness, witches and ogresses. Together, they embody both the darkness and the light, reminding us that winter is not an ending, but a powerful beginning. Enter their world. Witness their strength. Feel the turning of the season.
This show is part of a long-standing tradition for ZUZI! to create a space and opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to work, move, learn and grow together. Participants have ranged in age from 7 to 90. This multi-generational approach to dance is rooted in ZUZI!’s belief that individual perspectives, shared and shaped with others, create a healthy community.
Two featured performances will take place on December 20th and December 21st at 7pm at The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre in the Historic Y at 738 N. 5th Avenue. Admission is $30 for the general public. Reception to follow in Theatre lobby after Saturday's performance.
ZUZI! Dance will feature choreography by Cofounder and Artistic Director Nanette Robinson and special guest artists including Funhouse movement theater, Karyn Reim, 520 Dance Company, Molly Schneck, Lin Lucas, and Andrea Gurdone.
